about me
(so who is this wannabe writer ?)
One of my favorite authors, James A. Michener, said this of his craft: “I love writing. I love the swirl and swing of words as they tangle with human emotions.”
Me too.
Writing for me is about committing my thoughts to paper; it's about sharing what I've written and it's about moving the reader.
However, I didn't always feel this way because for most of my life I wasn't a writer. Instead, I was a cop. (For more on how writing and I became acquainted, please read But you were just a cop on my "in books" page).
I credit my former profession for affording me opportunities to speak publicly concerning issues that primarily dealt with juvenile and family matters, thus necessitating the need to craft relevant speeches that were both entertaining as well as informative. I eventually began to use a "make them laugh and cry while still delivering the intended message" kind of format that has served me well to this day.
And to be honest, had I not been a cop, it's doubtful that I’d be writing today.
My work has appeared in various newspapers, magazines and book anthologies including several in the Chicken Soup for the Soul series.
I hail from Wayne, NJ and West Ocean City, MD and have been married to Karen for 39 years. We are the parents of Michael, 32 and Tracy, 29.
I’m missing my 14-year-old bestest buddy, Bailey, but I know that another rescue puppy in need of a family will one day become a member of ours.
